So here is a big teacher truth:
If we hate grading it, our students probably hated doing it.
Now, I understand that “hate” is a strong word, but hear me out…
I am all about grit (for both teachers and students).
Sometimes we simply have to do things we don’t want to do because that’s just real life.
But maybe we can do ourselves (and our students and their parents) a solid favor and consider this fact before assigning things.
The truth of the matter is, we have all been there, experiencing TOTAL dread to grade those packets, papers, and problems.
But maybe we should take a step back. If we are procrastinating on grading it, our students probably did the same in actually doing it.
There should be joy in this journey.
Would love to hear your thoughts.
PS-the reverse is true too! If we love grading it our kids probably loved doing it.
With so much love,
