I personally spent over $100 on … you guessed it… school supplies!
Teachers are good at spending money… on students.
I would guess many teachers dug deep into their own pockets during black Friday and spent even more!
My point here is not to debate numbers or salaries.
My point is to illustrate the heart of teachers.
Insert classic argument: “But teachers get their summers off. And a winter break. And a spring break. They don’t deserve a pay raise.
It is true that we get many breaks. But ask any teacher how many hours they work during these “breaks” and then calculate that hourly rate!
Our income isn’t much, but our hearts are huge.
Our bonus comes in the form of pizza in the lounge, but the bonus love we get from kids is priceless.
Our budget is no-existent, but our classroom experiences are priceless.
Our job is not about the money, but we most certainly deserve a higher salary.
It’s about the moments we get with the kids. And that is why we do what we do
