How do you personally feel about the following statement:
Students have a hard time listening to and learning from teachers they don’t like.
Let’s take a real world look at this sentence…
When was the last time you learned something positive and meaningful from somebody you disliked?
The truth is, this is rare.
Because if we don’t like the person we generally don’t listen.
And when we don’t listen we can’t develop trust.
And when we don’t trust somebody we can’t develop a relationship with them.
And when we don’t have a relationship with somebody the entire system crumbles.
This is true in schools, but this is also true in life.
Students don’t have to love their teacher and think they are “their favorite ever” but students should feel a likability factor on some level with every teacher.
Because if we can get them “liking” we can get them learning.
