Teacher Retention: How to Get MORE Teachers to STAY In (or join) Education

Nearly 50% of new teachers leave the classroom within the first 5 years of teaching.

That is not a great odds for teacher retention.

So how do we decrease that startling statistic and increase teacher retention?

How do we get more teachers to STAY in the field OR join education?

Maybe it is as simple as this…

Have parents, principals, and politicians understand that we are NOT dedicated to a JOB

But we are PASSIONATE & DEVOTED to a CAUSE.

The cause: creating kids who will thrive in society based off the skills we teach them every day.

It is so much more than a pay check. But a higher salary would be awesome.

It is so much more than teaching standards. But those are really important.

It is so  much more than going through the motions. But sometimes that’s easier than jumping through the hoops that are constantly created.

I think nearly 100% of teachers understand we are a part of education because education matters.

And when we can truly all agree on that, and what education actually means, then I think teacher retention will go up.

With so much love,
