3 Tips to Survive The Remainder of the School Year

Spring break is over and that means back to the classroom!

Back to the excitement, back to the daily routines, back to the meetings and the grading, and back to the moments where you stop and think, “that didn’t seriously just happen did it?”

And then you realize it did….

That kid did just stick a full pencil top eraser in his nose. And that other kid did just call you a word you have never heard before, but are confident it is not school appropriate, under her breath.

No worries, friend. I have 3 tips for you so you can crush the rest of this school year!

1.) Get a Workout In!

Exercising makes people happier. There is legit science behind this. I like to workout in the mornings, but it’s hard to get up! One way I have made my morning routine a little bit better is by sleeping in my workout clothes. I go to bed fully dressed for my spin class or cardio kick-boxing. Each night before bed I put on shorts then pants over the top, a sports bra and a t-shirt with a half-zip over the top. Boom! I’m warm AND ready!

Now literally all I have to do is roll on out the bed and head to the gym. Most days I brush my teeth first. Most days…

2.) Celebrate Those Relationships!

A school is more than just an educational building. It is a place of friendship. It is a place filled with opportunities. It is a place with trusted adults. It is a place for building deeply rooted relationships. It is a home. Nurture those moments and remember that YOU are the trusted adult for so many kids!

3.) Have Insane Amounts of Fun!

I am a believer that anything can be turned into a fun activity if we just go for it! For example, gone are the days of turn in bins! Forget passing papers forward. Goodbye to have a student collect homework. My friends, it is time to turn the art of gathering assignments into a motivational activity that I call the paper collection race! It’s ridiculously fun for both students AND me! I stretch. Then I sprint! Literally avoiding obstacles, binders, and anything else in my way, I run around my classroom to collect work of 28 students in under 13 seconds. Biggest time saver ever.

Most importantly just remember, you’ve got this!

Go make those last couple months AWESOME in your classroom!
