How to Create The Best Lessons for Kids

Not too long ago I had a guest speaker in my classroom.

The presenter asked my students a good question, “what do you normally do in this class?”

An 8th grade boy casually responded, “sometimes we just go wherever the wind takes us.”

This was equal parts heartfelt & hilarious.

The kid is also right.

Sometimes the best lessons come like this.

How many of you have totally taught one of your best lessons of your entire teacher career on something that a student brought up that was NOT part of your “lesson plan.”

Has that been happening for you even more this year?

It sure has in my classroom.

And those lessons are invaluable.

Let’s make a pledge to each other that we will do more of “wherever the wind takes us” in months and years to come.

And if you need a little extra help creating opportunities to “teach wherever the wind takes you” I’ve got your back!

I think you will love this SEL resource
