Advice for New Teachers (And a Reminder to ALL Teachers)

A new teacher asked me a great question the other day.

“I have learned SO many ideas this summer.  I want to implement all of them into my classroom.  How do I make sure I do that?”

Me:  You Don’t.

Pick like 3 ideas that YOU love that match YOUR teaching style.  Then crush those!

Let me say it again…

Don’t do everything!

Do a few things really freaking well!

I’ll never forget being the “new teacher” or even “new teacher in my building”  trying to do ALL the things.

It was:

Stressful.

Overwhelming.

Unrealistic.

Even over a decade into being in a classroom, I try to pick just a few things to focus on each year.

And then I try to make those few things freaking awesome!

So take a deep breath.

Throw out your multi-page list.

Pick out a couple killer ideas.

And go have some fun!

You got this!

With so much love,
